Pastor’s Job Description
Principle Function
The pastor, as the primary preaching elder is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the whole council of God, to engage in pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and foster an environment that stimulates members to pray without ceasing, both corporately and individually
2. Prayerfully plan and conduct the worship services, prepare and deliver sermons, lead in observance of ordinances and conduct special services/ceremonies as required
3. Lead the church in witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community
4. Participate in Awana, mid-week ministry activities and youth ministries
5. Work with church officers, ministry leaders and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities, and train, lead, and counsel members
6. Serve as a member of the Church Board which leads and evaluates the church programs, worship services, and works in conjunction with the Deacons to execute daily church activities
7. Visit members and prospective members
8. Cooperate and fellowship with local pastors of like beliefs; represent the church in civic matters
9. Serve as chief administrator of the paid church staff; supervise the work of the paid staff
